Yes, I think there's definelty space there for a new programming language targeted at simple repetetive tasks. I always thought it would have been good to have something like a python interpreter embedded into AutoCAD for such tasks.

Maybe your being a bit harsh on the .NET languages though. There fairly easy to learn (much easier than c++ / objectARX anyway) and they do give you a huge amount of control of the internals of autocad (far more than LISP or VBA). I find c# quite pleasant to use although like you say it's definelty overkill for simple tasks.
